Longines Irish Champions Weekend takes place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September at both Leopardstown and the Curragh racecourses, and is fast becoming a racing event that is capturing the world’s attention. Leopardstown and the Curragh have joined forces to stage a weekend of style and racing that rivals British Champion Day in Ascot and the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe in Paris in both racing and fashion.
This unique racing event will stage the highest concentration of quality flat racing in Ireland; The event features 10 Group races, including five ‘Group 1s’, with two iconic feature races – the QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes and the Palmerstown House Estate Irish St. Leger. The increased prize-fund for the weekend totals €4.5 million, to be won across 16 races makes it one of the richest weekends on the racing calendar.
Off track, a glittering programme of entertainment for the weekend includes: The Goffs Champion Sale, The Champions Quarter Marquee featuring The Moët & Chandon Champagne Bar, Longines Prize for Elegance, Brass Tacks music after racing at Leopardstown, Moyglare Kidzone at the Curragh, The Curragh Thoroughbred Trail, appearances from Style & Sport Ambassadors Ronan & Jessica O’Gara and Style Judges Rachel Wyse, Bairbre Power, Jennifer Stevens, Julia Wilks and Cathy Donohue - all combine to make this Longines Irish Champions Weekend one of the sporting and social occasions of the year.
Longines Prize for Elegance
The coveted Longines Prize for Elegance competition will once again run across the weekend of September 10th and 11th and will be open to all styles and racegoers. Fashion enthusiasts will have the chance to showcase their style credentials in the hope of winning some of the €25,000 in prizes on offer, including the overall Longines Prize for Elegance.
The prizes, including shopping experiences from Louise Kennedy, Louis Copeland and Kildare Village as well as a luxury stay at Dublin’s best address, The Merrion hotel, will be awarded to the most elegant female and male race-goer at Leopardstown and The Curragh. Title sponsor, Longines, will also gift the winners each day with an elegant time piece from their latest collection.

The Style Stakes will be high on Sunday 11th September at the Curragh racecourse for the Palmerstown House Estate Irish St. Leger day.
Longines will again present an exquisite timepiece to the winning lady who will also receive a unique shopping experience at Kildare Village, worth €3,000. The most elegant lady will also receive a year’s complimentary hairdressing at the David Marshall Hair Salon to the value of €2k. David’s salon is one of the most iconic in Dublin and he still remains a favourite for many well-known celebrities. The four runners-up will receive vouchers from both Kildare Village and David Marshall.
The most elegant man will also win a fabulous prize with Longines presenting him with a magnificent timepiece, he will also receive a €2,000 shopping experience at Kildare Village and a voucher to spend with David Marshall Hair Salon. Style and Sport Ambassadors
Style and sport icons Jessica and Ronan O’Gara have been announced as this year’s ambassadors. Jessica and Ronan will both promote the event across the summer and will be attending the weekend with family and friends.
