DO GOOD

Donate to Barretstown Children's Charity

Do Good and donate to our charity partner, Barretstown, which works to rebuild the lives of children affected by serious illness, and their families, in a safe, fun, and supportive environment.

“Sheer wonder, delight, joy and magic” is how Edel Preston, whose three daughters Emma, Isobelle and Maisie attended Barretstown, would describe the experience of visiting the residential camp in County Kildare.

For children living with cancer and other serious illnesses, life can feel like a constant trek from one hospital room to another. Thanks to Barretstown – these youngsters have a safe place to just be kids.

We arrived at Barretstown almost broken. We left ready to face the world again.

Inspired by the philosophy of actor Paul Newman, Barretstown believes that “healing doesn’t just happen in hospitals and laughter may very well be the best medicine.”

In 2020, the world faces new challenges but Barretstown’s mission remains unwavering. “Even during lockdown, the spirit of camp was brought into the home and the guys delivered out arts and crafts, goodies and a bundle of feel good vibes,” said Edel.

Since then, the family have become keen advocates of the charity and were gifted with a private visit to Kildare Village to celebrate – even appearing in our Christmas video.

“From a very young age you hear of magic, wonder and joy in the world, but as you get older you have to sometimes look a little harder to find it,” added Edel. “That's how we would best describe our experience with Barretstown.”

Kildare Village is partnered with Barretstown as part of The Bicester Collection DO GOOD network of charitable organisations, all of which work to empower women and children. Read more here.
